I like this poem because it is a plea to hurry summer up. Anyone who loves summer would like this poem.
This poem is a letter for summer to make it hurry up. I wish this letter would work because I would send it myself over and over and over. I love summer and everything about it. Summer does feel like an “old friend” (line 3). It always visits you and makes you feel better when it arrives.

This poem adds a little bit of comedy about summer by saying if it was a “biblical angel” knocking on her door (line 6) she would buy all it had to offer. I bet if Jehovah’s witness gave off that summer feeling they wouldn’t have so many people regret seeing them coming.
I have the winter blues and if I knew where to send this letter to make summer come faster I would send it right away.
This poem gives me hope that summer is on its way.
Please summer hurry up!
I also like summer too and cannot wait for it to come! I hate winter with all the snow and cold weather because it's so dangerous. If you get snowed in, it's difficult to get to work, or anywhere! I also like summer because most of the time, it's when the family's out of school, or don't work as much so we can all spend time together or go on a vacation. Distant relatives can visit or we can go visit them until fall rolls around the corner and we have to start our daily routines of school and work again. I guess I like Summer so much because of it's beautiful weather and so it acts as an reward for all our hard work.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE summer! I spend every warm day that comes around outside doing all that I can. Writing a letter to summer seems like a great idea. If it was an option to make summer get here faster, I would choose it. I enjoy snow and the fall, but there is just something about summer that gives me excitement and pure joy!
ReplyDeleteSummer is nice, but I prefer Fall the most. There are lots still left to be said and done, harvests to gather and leaves to fall. Summer is just way too hot for me as I prefer it a little milder than the blistering heat. Fall means golden leaves and pumpkins galore. What does summer have? Heat stroke and swimming pools. So, I'll second your call for summer, but only in hopes that it will end rather quickly to make room for the fall!
ReplyDeleteI liked this poem. I love summer, it's my favorite time of the year. I understand the feeling the author of the poem is expressing about summer. Summertime gives off such a unique feeling, as every other season as well. I love the part in this poem that reads "i'd personally carry your luggage in, Your monsoons. Your squadrons of bugs..." I love it because I hate bugs but every winter I look forward to all the good and not so good things summer brings.
